Unlike some South Beach properties, which can feel like kitschy fluorescent nightclubs by the sea, the Raleigh is more like a sophisticated hotel whose history speaks for itself; no gimmicks are needed.

The Raleigh’s distinctive pink lounge chairs are hard to miss when you’re on the beach. When guests pull into the hotel’s lush circular driveway, they can feel transported to another era: the fabulous ’40s. The 104-room Raleigh was meticulously restored to reflect the retro-Miami spirit of the original Art Deco design. Guestrooms maintain the motif with period furnishings, kingsize beds and gorgeous terrazzo floors.

The original icon of South Beach as we know it, Delano has a hearty dose of the flash, sass and sophistication that everybody heads to Miami Beach for. From the moment guests saunter up the breezy stairs and into the dramatic, billowing white-draped lobby (the brainchild of acclaimed designer Philippe Starck), the surreal trip begins.

While it’s considered an Art Deco “boutique hotel,” Delano has almost as much to offer as any resort you’d find in Vegas, with enough enticing facilities to keep you on-site the whole trip. There’s the sexy Rose Bar.

From the Eames furniture to artwork by Dalì and Gaudi, Delano is a style landmark.(with its highly social pool table), a 6,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor penthouse spa/solarium, and the stunning palm-ringed infinity pool, with its soothing underwater music and its signature: seemingly floating silver table and chairs.

Shore Club, a South Beach classic hotel.

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

South Beach never goes out of style. Which is why so many hoteliers, such as Morgans Hotel Group, choose its white-sand beaches to build elegant retreats like Shore Club. But of all the Art Deco–inspired hotels that inhabit Miami Beach, Shore Club has drawn the biggest crowds over the years.

Top British Architect David Chipperfield built the elegant 309-room property, adding indoor and outdoors bars and restaurants that are second to none in this glitzy city.

Classically whitewashed guest rooms look out over the city or the Atlantic.Interiors are decorated with the clean white furnishings familiar to Miami Beach design, with bright bursts of color via pillows and light fixtures. All living quarters face the sea or lush garden areas, or offer unique views of sunny South Beach.

When it came to developing South Beach’s latest trendsetter, designer Marcel Wanders transformed fantasy into reality. Wanders’s dollhouse wonderland, Mondrian South Beach, comes with an obscure history that involved dredging up a dilapidated tower from the ocean floor and triumphantly resurrecting the building as “Sleeping Beauty’s Castle” with the help of clandestine superheroes and their horses.

The heroes then imprinted the sea’s aesthetic on their new home in the form of spectacular baroque seaweed patterns, chandeliers that resemble jellyfish, self-portraits scattered about the hotel and pieces of furniture of Alice in Wonderland proportions.

Eden Roc Resort in Miami Beach.

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Majority of Miami Beach tourist has already set their hearts for the Eden Roc hotel as its neighboring hotel, Fontainebleau that was build in the 1950s era. Since back then both hotels had become a hit with visitors that flock to Miami. Both hotels have shared their fair share of popular celebrities that has grace the hotels with their presents which includes the late Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Jayne Mansfield and many others.

Most of them would just come to enjoy the night that is full of dazzle and very lustful or to enjoy the day lazing in the sun at the Collins Avenue strip. This well known hotel was built in 1955 by a very farsighted and advance architect, Morris Lapidus.

In Miami Beach, there are many hotels for you to choose from whether from the high-end hotels or other hotels that would suit each individual’s budget. It could be a overwhelming decision to choose from these hotels but then again it depends on your own taste and style.

However from the many choices that one has, there is one hotel that will definitely go well with anybody’s needs and it’s called the Pelican Hotel. This is due to the interesting flamboyant and complex designs which are very similar to ‘Andy Warhol’s work of arts. The fantasy-like design but yet authentic and high fashion will definitely ‘awe’ each person that passes by.

The flamboyance of the Pelican Hotel is linked owners of the hotel whom are also owners of the fashion label, Diesel. Majority of the hotels surface is embossed with company’s logo and that will definite ensure that people are aware of the hotels origin.

When Viceroy Hotel opened at the Brickell Avenue Financial District a place where people think is quite boring and traditional as it is the place of office and banks, and does not fit the Miami scene, it soon became popular and considered hip.

Located not far from the Port of Miami, the popularity of the business area skyrocketed, thanks to the super glamorous Viceroy Hotel which injected the so called boring avenue with vibrant visitors and life.

Just steps from the turquoise Miami waters, the Betsy Hotel places you in the unequivocal heart of South Beach, right on Ocean Drive. But the hotel’s quieter-end-of-the-strip location and its upscale, plantationlike design set it slightly apart from all the other hotels. The Betsy looks like a demure Southern Belle set in a sea of flamboyant Art Deco divas.

What we love:

At the quieter end of Ocean Drive, few blocks more ahead from the Versace Mansion,  facing the beach Chic and cozy rooftop bar and lounge area with ocean views B-Bar, (photo above) a superpopular and edgy nightclub, is in the basement Preppy-chic rooms with plantation shutters and dark wood floors Sprawling Southern-style front terrace for breakfast and people watching.

The Angler’s South Beach.

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Built in the 1930s by architect Henry Maloney, the Angler’s Hotel was originally two graceful Mediterranean Revival buildings that fell into years of abandonment. In 2007, a meticulous renovation revamped the buildings and added two more, creating one of the unsung jewels in South Beach’s ostentatious crown.

This is Miami, after all, so the Angler’s comes correct with poolside cabanas and daybeds.Eschewing SoBe’s cliché pastel-and-white palette, the Angler’s features rich, dark woods and a neutral color scheme that brings warmth to its sizable rooms.

Accommodations come in two flavors: Studio Suites and Manor Villas. Although one-level Studio Suites have balconies or terraces with pool or city views, it’s well worth the upgrade to the duplex villas that have main-level living areas and second-floor bedrooms linked by a spiral staircase. All rooms come with nice touches like plasma TVs, DVD players, iPod docking stations with surround sound in every room, a wet bar and a refrigerator.

Gansevoort Miami Beach.

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

One of the beautiful-people hotels that Miami is famous for, the Gansevoort features a celebrated rooftop bar and lounge called Plunge that’s a DJ-driven hip haven by night and an amazing 18-story-high pool space by day. Located north of South Beach’s more crowded areas, this blocklong resort is also surprisingly family-friendly, with enormous guestrooms and Miami’s largest beach club.

There are two ways to look at the Gansevoort’s location, between 23rd and 24th streets on historic Collins Avenue: It’s either thankfully far from the crowds in the more congested parts of South Beach, or it’s a bit removed from the center of all the action.

Either way, this enormous 340-room U-shaped resort enjoys a plum spot on Miami’s beachfront, and lies just 12 miles from the city’s airport.

The Standard Hotel Miami.

Monday, February 14th, 2011

It’s hard not to instantly see the sex appeal of the Standard’s spa property in Miami Beach. First André Balazs took dusty motels and office buildings in L.A. and turned them into must-stay meccas; with the Standard Miami, he vamped up the time-honored spa. The Standard Miami Beach is an oasis on a small South Florida island, just 15 minutes from the bustle of Ocean Drive. Come for a massage and a scrub; stay for an all-night club adventure. If you’ve ever done South Beach, you know it’s a choose-your-own-adventure type of place.

The funky, coed Turkish hammam is one of the best-known features of the property’s impressive spa.The spa mixes old and new, combining up-to-the-second treatments with ancient massage traditions. Visitors can take a respite from the South Beach scene and indulge in any number of pleasures, from a Turkish hammam “Rub ‘n’ Scrub” to a dip in the sound pool. Coming with a friend? Couples can indulge in a joint scrub session, with plenty of privacy behind thick rubber curtains, or just indulge in sprawling tubs. Scrub-a-dub-dub…you know the rest.

The Villa By Barton G. Miami Beach.

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Arabian Nights meet South Beach at Miami’s most storied address. The former Versace mansion reopened as the Villa at Barton G in 2010 after a decadent overhaul (imagine 24-karat gold tiles in the courtyard pool and your own British-trained butler) that the late Italian designer would, we venture, have found fitting. Designed with comfort in mind, this two-night package includes a welcome champagne cocktail, daily breakfast, a one-hour couples massage, a three-course dinner for two with wine pairings and round-trip airport transfers.

Only an impresario like Barton G. Weiss — an acclaimed Miami restaurateur and self-dubbed “experience designer” with a background that includes costume and set design — could deliver the delicate mix of flamboyance and sophistication worthy the mansion that once belonged to Gianni Versace.

Past the iron gates (and the many celebrity seekers) that surround the 1930s villa — which is directly across from the beach, in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco district — the property opens up like a scene from One Thousand and One Nights. The layout is reminiscent of a Moroccan riad: 10 suites set around an interior courtyard with a fountain, carved wood doors and intricate tiling.

What our Guests say:

1) I’m trying it out for the first time; sounds like another ShoreClub with bad service but probably better decor. Time for an AMMAN on SoBe!

2) Massive rooms for the price. Louis is decent, but too small. Rooftop is a cool place to hang out. Pool is a huge party during the day. Lobby is well decorated with a large shark tank taking up the back wall. I liked this Hotel, except I feel as if the service could have been better. I was treated as a dollar sign and not a guest.

3) Louis Club is really good on Tuesdays!

4) Love the Plunge (Rooftop Bar), relaxed and beautiful.

5) If anyone has a ‘connect’ at the Rooftop Lounge or any of the other Clubs or Restaurants here please contact me!

6) Fantastic rooftop pool and bar. The rooms are well decorated, spacious, nice bathrooms but rooms have carpet which isn’t appealing for hot weather…
