Miami Beach, the american Saint Tropez.

south-beach-girl

Often compared to the Riviera or Saint Tropez the south end of Miami Beach, known in shorthand as SoBe, is really a place all its own.

No other destination quite compares to this fashionable beach scene where a square-mile historic Art Deco district and a wild and crazy nightlife scene add exotic and cosmopolitan flair.

Ocean Drive is the beachfront thoroughfare, and it’s really best to walk it because traffic inches most of the day and night. You can stroll the paved beach walk or the sidewalk fronting South Beach’s famous Art Deco hotels and their sidewalk cafés.

Be ready to dodge in-line skaters, servers hawking café menus, and crowds of the curious.

Stop at any of the cafés for a drink or a meal.

Well-loved by locals is News Cafè (800 Ocean Drive), where you can find almost any newspaper, in case you tire of people-watching.

At Nikki Beach in Miami.

the-nikki-beach

Comments and Advices from our Guests:

1) The best place to be in miami..dont miss it! sunday night is the best.

2) It used to be great place in 2001. Now it is worst tourist trap on the beach.

3) Far over estimated. left it´s best years and glamour behind. no place for locals. but still the only place at the beach to hang out & chill – except the beach itself!

4) Sadly – though not always the case – this particular location gives the ‘nikki beach’ brand a bad name.

5) Don´t waist your time, trashi place…. In place in 2000 now want´s to live from past glories, with the turist croud…

6) Great place, go on Sunday`s.

7) Make sure you get there before 12, take a chair with umbrella, a large mojito’s jar, and then you will be ready to enjoy the show…

8) Best Sunday Brunch of Miami Beach!

Girl bikini in the beach, Miami

The beaches on Miami Beach start at South Pointe Park and continue north to Surfside.

Public parking lots across the street do fill up quickly.

There are 20 lifeguard stations from the southernmost point to 83rd Street.

We suggest Topless sunbathing on the beaches from 5th to 21st Streets. Most beaches feature restrooms and showers. Top beaches include Lummus Park (Ocean Drive from 6th to 14th Streets), with lots of palm trees, chickees for shade and snack stand; and North Shore (76th to 87th Streets along Collins Avenue), featuring a vita course, wooden boardwalks, and barbecue facilities.

North of Miami Beach, Haulover Beach (10800 Collins Avenue, 305- 947-3525) has picnic facilities and lifeguards.

Designated clothing-optional section at the northern 1/3 mile of beach, in signed area only. Gawkers are strongly discouraged.

If you need to park in Miami Beach, you can find Parking Garages at 7th Street: Washington Avenue & Collins Avenue, 12th Street: 1/2 block west of Washington Avenue, 13th Street: 1/2 block east of Collins Avenue on 13th 16th Street: 16th Street and Collins Avenue 17th Street: between Pennsylvania and Meridian Avenues 42nd Street: 1 block north of 41st Street between Royal Palm Avenue and Sheridan.

The fascinating Lincoln Road

girls-in-lincoln-road

Located in the heart of South Beach, just north of Ocean Drive, Lincoln Roadone of the most romantic street – runs from the ocean to the bay between 6th and 17th Streets in Miami Beach’s historic Art Deco District.

Built in 1914 as the center – piece for Miami Beach, it was considered one of the most elegant shopping streets in America by the 1950s.

In the early ‘60s, legendary architect Morris Lapidus created a new design for the Road and closed it to traffic.

Though the 70s and 80s saw a decline in Lincoln Road, by the ’90s it once again became a bustling, vibrant area and now attracts an international mix of tourists and residents.
